Who We Are

Hazelwood Park Blackberry Removal
January 15th, 2011

Two years ago, Weed Warriors began a restoration project in Hazelwood Park
by removing the invasive Himalayan Blackberries and planting native plants.
Today we pulled Blackberry plants that had sprouted from seeds over the last
two years. Blackberry seeds can remain viable in the soil for several years.
This is why battling invasives can be challenging and perseverance is important.

Hazelwood Park, 7.2 acres, has trails throughout, a wetland boardwalk, and views to
the Newcastle Golf Course, Cougar Mountain, and Seattle.
Three information kiosks highlight some of the unique features of this park.
Thanks, Weed Warriors and Hazen Key Club, for battling the blackberries!
