January 23rd, Friday: 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Weeding at the King Conservation District nursery. Your volunteer hours turn into trees for our restoration plantings. Location: Map the Nursery is just off of Grady Way to the north on Longacres Drive SW. Park by the chain link fence at the entrance.

June 6th, Saturday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM National Trails Day Walk 'n Find, “Nuggets of Newcastle.” Discover Newcastle history at historic locations, native plants and non-native noxious weeds, and the important salmon habitat of May Creek as we traverse the canyon down to the creek and back up to Lake Boren Park. Wear sturdy walking shoes. Meet at Lake Boren Park. Entire walk covers approximately 2.5 miles. GPS coordinates for history locations are found at the beginning of the walk. Collect a “Puget Sound Starts Here” pathtag. “Puget Sound Starts Here” swag for walkers.

July 2nd, Thursday: 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Rain Garden Introduction and Maintenance of local Rain Garden site. This site, located in Burien, is part of the 12,000 Rain Gardens campaign of the Puget Sound Starts Here Program. Meet at the Burien Press coffee shop for orientation, then travel to rain garden site. No transportation provided. Tools and gloves are provided. Dress for the warm weather and bring a refillable water bottle.

The park has 7.3 acres of natural, wooded ground. Western views of Lake Washington, Mercer Island, Seattle and beyond are available. The eastern half of the park includes a boardwalk through a forested wetland.

Oct 3, 2015, Saturday: 9:00AM - 4:00PM Volunteers needed to help host booth at the annual Washington Native Plant Society, Central Puget Sound Fall Native Plant Sale and Environmental Fair on Saturday, Oct 3, 2015 from 9-4. We will be returning to Bellevue Botanical Gardens in Bellevue now that their education building construction is complete. Almost all of the plants and the Environmental Fair will be undercover and out of any rain.There is easy access, plenty of free parking, flush toilets and lest we forget, the beautiful Botanical Gardens. Usually somewhere between 300-400 people attend this event. It is a good opportunity for outreach for the Weed Warriors. We have participated for the last 4 years have found it rewarding.
